Different Types of Driveway Cracks
Your driveway is bound to crack over time. There are many different types of cracking that could happen on your driveway. Here’s a few of them:
- Settlement cracks: Settlement cracks happen when the soil underneath the driveway sinks or shifts. This then causes the driveway to crack. Settlement cracks tend to occur in driveways that are on unstable ground.
- Spiderweb cracks: Spider web cracks are often caused by age, weathering, and wear and tear. They’re called spider web cracks because the cracks resemble a spider web.
- Hairline cracks: Hairline cracks are small, thin cracks that occur on the surface of your driveway. Hairline cracks tend to occur from the natural shrinkage of asphalt/concrete. In order for it to be a hairline crack it must be less than ⅛ inch wide.
One thing you can do to prevent these cracks is to regularly get your driveway sealed. Get your driveway sealed today with Bravo Buffalo.
